In the 1970s, 4000 to 4005 were assigned to the Bay Area while 4006,7,8,and 9 were in the Valley
based out of Fresno. 4000 and 4006 had Nathan M5 horns while the rest retained their original
Nathan P3s.

I used to watch them switch loaded hoppers up the steep upgrade to the Pacific Ready Mix Plant
at Howest in northern San Mateo. Happened every weekday and was quite a show.
