If Tesla ever builds a really compact electric car with a low profile, I would expect them to bring back the vert-a-pac rail car idea, if it saves them money shipping rail cars with the carriers.

Back in the 70s or 80s, the double stack container car idea came from a shipping company. Maybe GM similarly proposed the vert-a-pac idea to the carriers?
I suspect most innovations in rail cars come from shippers who want to save money on their rail shipping expenses.
