New transportation bills signed into law

The governor recently signed into law two bills that are sure to rankle fossil fuel interests.

SB 960, by Senator Scott Wiener, requiring Caltrans to incorporate “complete streets” features for pedestrians, bicycles and transit priority into all their car sewer upgrade projects.

AB 2503, by Assemblymember Alex Lee, exempting rail electrification (such as overhead catenary or hydrogen fueling facilities) from environmental review under CEQA.

Fossil fuel aficionados, shake your fists at the sky!
