The post just north of Yakima, known as the Yakima Firing Center, offers military units the opportunity to train in maneuver and gunnery in an area that has lots of room for both. Fort Irwin (Army) and Twentynine Palms (Marine), in California's Mojave desert, offer the same types of features.
