Those are nothing but meaningless platitudes, Coleman. You did not address my questions about how much money a railroad company should devote to otherwise-unused lines "just in case" something happens.

Worldwide demand for transport, rail or otherwise, is meaningless in this context. Many lines don't just die off, they never had any potential in the first place, or the businesses they were built to serve no longer exist.
