As of a year ago, and I don't think anything has changed given the price of gold, the 16-to-1 was still operating their railroad. The Ruby Mine, off the Henness Pass and Galoway Roads above Downieville had compressed air and battery locomotives which sat outside the tunnel for many years after the mine shut down. It was owned by the same people (Best Mining)who had the Brush Creek mine. About 10 years ago, the Ruby was being worked again by some Canadian interests but I don't know if they were using any of the rail equipment. There was a compressed air loco stored at the Gold Bluff Mine (also a Best property), but that whole property has been bulldozed into oblivion and I have no idea of where the locomotive went.
