Rerouting the SW Chief away from Albuquerque will never happen; as Albuquerque sees more traffic than anyplace from LA to Chicago other than Kansas City. I have ridden the Chief many times and lived in Albuquerque for 27 years. I could see high speed passenger traffic between Denver and LaJunta connecting with the SW Chief.
