MILW tunnel would have been big enough without modification for domestic double stacks, remember, it was large enough for tri-level auto racks with the trolley wire still in use. As for the Pioneer tunnel enlargement, would be a pretty good idea, and might allow for some modifications to grade that would be helpful, but I really doubt our economy will ever gain strength enough to tax the existing capacity, in fact, I would be really surprised if Stampede Pass was ever placed into regular service again---I expect it to be used as a MofW detour for as long as it is in decent shape for such use and then taken out of service. I don't see them pouring any more money into it with all the changes taking place in our economic situation.
