SPI is a business and as such is subject to the economic situation that we are ALL facing. The tax burden of a rail line that does not produce revenue is huge. Therefor, as an act of corporate self preservation, the rail line is seen as a liability that harms the bottom line. I am a railfan. the loss of any rail line hurts. If we want to preserve a line some realities need to be considered. Offering to maintain a line is one thing. Unless the organization can provide the owner of the property some economic help, the chances of success are slim. It seems a little odd that SPI has been so two faced and downright sneaky on this though.
