Carol, there isn't much we agree on but this the exception. This mess, as I said before, will out-boondoggle BARTD. I doubt anyone over thirty now, will ever ride this thing and whatever, if anything, that does get built will end up like Kaiser's dream of a cement boat, a rotting curiosity.

The Coast Line is still there. What was it? 9.5 hours SF to LA? Done with steam power and written orders. No matter what they do with HSR, the best they will end up with is about 4.5 hours. If you can't spare the extra five hours, you have no business going in the first place.

What other state services will be cut to pay for this? If our state financial crisis is bad now, this idiocy will make it terminal.
