And most famous on the Gulf coast is the S.S. Selma, in Galveston Bay. She was also built in 1919 also, but in Alabama. She ran aground 11 months later in Mexico, cracking the hull. She was sent to Galveston for repairs, but the decision was made to scuttle her in Galveston Bay instead, in 1922.
