Cruise ships have been tried but we're not dealing with the attraction of the White Pass here. Weather often prevents ships from landing passengers. The dock where they tie up leaves a wasteland to walk across to get to town, or they have to tie up at Samoa and get bussed to the Redwood Parks. Stores are often closed and the weather just keeps some people on the boat. The future train ride to the parks will be a 6 or 8 hour roundtrip. Lots of issues here which are correctable, but Humboldt County has had 30 years to work on them while the timber industry vanished and they haven't progressed too far. At least the Eureka Inn is opening again! That's something.
