The lumber mill at Wallowa Forest Products was auctioned off piecemiel today. This was the primary shipper for the Wallowa Union RR. The only other customers since the mill closed have only added up to a dozen carloads a year. About half the storage center-beams have been recalled by UP in the last few months. Rumor has it that this will be the last year for the tourist train which has operated at a loss. Once all the storage car are gone, WURR will probably suspend all operations pending a large customer locating on-line.
