It has been my observation and understanding through talking with MOW Sup. that yard tracks are near the bottom of the budget. Further, the hardware is increasingly difficult to obtain because no one seems to be making 75-40 et. al, parts. Also, if and when a track is replaced, there seems to be an FRA requirement that the new tack meets current safety standards to the point which includes new, wider, track centers. How is that accomplished with one track when it is between two opposite tracks? Those tracks would also have to move! Net result? Don't do anything unless absolutely necessary. Then, do only the bare minimum.
