The so-called "Media" slide started long before the economy showed any signs of sliding; at least newspapers and television network news certainly did - starting at least 10-15 years ago.

But as you point out, the specialty media is still doing just fine - mostly. I think the real cause of the perceived media decline is because newspapers and network news long ago made themselves irrelevant as a source of accurate information - of any sort.

Because the specialty media is still going stronger then ever, I doubt that printed material that is still relevant, will be going away anytime soon. I'm certain that I will be buying printed train books until I am quite dead.

Long after - if I can just figure out how to manage that! .and have them delivered too!


As for Steve's dissertation on digital processing techniques - it's about time someone did that. He (or anyone else) could write a book with that kind of info in it, and I would buy that too!

I have been hoping to find just this sort of detail information for a long time. Since so many of us are into photography, this is the sort of subject that should routinely appear on Altamont. Keep it coming all y'all!
