Nice photos, especially the cab shots!
I think if you look at the CAHSR computer simulations you'll find that they're proposing double-ended trainsets, because that's pretty much what the market makers supply for the kind of performance they'll have to wring out of them.
That makes the LA run through project already on the books perfectly suitable for CAHSR use at reduced speeds. They don't need an eight mile stretch of perfectly tangent track maintained for 220 mph speeds (a huge money delta that seems to be lost in the shuffle). Does anyone think that any trains will run through LAUS, what should be the busiest station on the HSR system, without stopping. If you do, you need to pass the medical marijuana proposition so you will be legal in public!
This is what happens when the planning of any HSR gets divorced from all reality, trainwise and financewise. If you think you've got a bottomless supply of taxpayer money, your reality can be unconstrained by the real-world. If you're a real-world supplier the constraints, and the risk of ignoring them, force you to do better.
