...seems to me that SP used to assign a 5300-class SD-39 to switch the yard and work the local industries (what little there was) and would also make the run to and from Searles, working the Louisiana Pacific lumber reload spur and siding, etc.

I recall seeing a photo of what Im assuming was the station agents child or grandchild riding on the hogger's lap on the SD-39 while doing the switching in the small yard.

Anyone have a pic of the engine(s) in this service?
