At the end and before the Feb. 1981 Tunnel 19 fire, there was a little business beyond Searles. The Navy received some munitions box cars, the lumber mill north of Inyokern shipped a few cars, and some crude salts were shipped from Owens Lake near Lone Pine.

"Jawbone" by Phil Serpico does a good job on this branch.

BTW - the Mojave-Searles-Trona line is very active, receiving unit trains of coal 2-3 time each week and shipping out trains of soda ash hoppers.
