Very much in BART's collective mind. The most common link is to a second BART transbay tube but I believe there was even a proposal to split off from the Market Street subway.

The City, altho not necessarily Muni's unions, would like it because BART is masterful at securing funding and has the requisite clout to bowl over the Geary Street merchants who have deep-sixed Muni's own rail proposals for Geary thus far.
