The fact of the matter is, most BART rumors are simply some half-baked idea being spouted off by some politician trying to gain points. To regurgitate them here and present them as if they are part of BART's culture is simply ridiculous and plain and simple intellectual dishonesty.

Even at face value, a proposal to extend BART to Ocean Beach is ridiculous. And after reading the article you linked simply solidifies that fact. The BART Board is comprised of politicians, not planners, engineers or other informed, qualified individuals. They will say anything to get a vote. Just read the article, it clearly shows politicians being political.

The fact of the matter is, there are those who post on this comment board who oddly are anti-public transit, specifically commuter rail and make comments and arguments based on frivolous observations and rarely know the facts. Synonymouse is simply one of those. His incessant references to BART's broad gauge is completely uninformed and ridiculous. Often, I discuss his comments with individuals who have been involved with BART many, many years and they generally laugh and tell the real story. So, my point is, for the most part, those disparaging BART are generally misinformed or willfully belligerent against public transit. And I take their opinions with a grain of salt.
