Anyone at senior levels in the companies and government agencies who will decide the future of such ports had better heed the story's 6th paragraph. Huge implications.

As for the story's 12th paragraph, those 2008 figures for West Coast coal export are woefully out of date. Does not take into account the increased number of coal trains that have recently begun running to Roberts Bank.
