UP Friendlier to Amtrak???

Is it me or does it seem like the UP has been a lot friendlier to Amtrak in regards to handling the trains? On my recent trip to Seattle, we were early into Portland and an hour early into Seattle. Then on the way back, we were an hour early into Sacramento. In July, I was returning from the east coast and was on the California Zephyr. We were considerably late into Denver, CO to the point to where my connection in Sacramento was in seriously jeopardy, we then were able to make up serious time through the Rockies and further west. Is it that UP Dispatchers are being friendlier with Amtrak, or is it just Amtrak getting a little crafty at padding their schedules?
