I was not defending Fox at all. But was pointing out that your own bias against it could easily be because you don't want to hear certain things that challenge "your reality".

> That is media manipulation, plain, pure and simple.

Actually, I do see media twisting of stories regularly - on ABC, and C BS. Also, almost every headline I see distorts the contents of the article underneath it.

But since I do not watch Fox (Yet), I wouldn't know about this case. But your example falls down anyway. You state they reported such and such, but actually provided no evidence to support the notion that what Fox reported was actually false. You merely indicated your own notion that it was. So how do you know they weren't telling the truth, if you had no evidence - just your own preformed opinion.

Actually, your described example does smack of mere silly semantics anyway. Fox said it one way - you think of it another way. Which reminds me of something that might help. I once had the chance to attend a session of the great business lecturer Steven R. Covey.....

He had half of his audience cover their eyes while he projected a pencil drawing. He proceeded to describe the picture of the old woman before he put it up. Then he asked the other half to cover their eyes while the first group looked on. Again he described this "second" picture of a sultry young woman just before projecting it.

He then had all the audience look on at once while he projected a "third" picture. But he did not describe it. Instead he asked the audience to describe it. There arose such an uproar (not unlike your reaction to Smitty), because half the audience described a haggard looking old woman; while the other half described the sultry young woman.

Turns out that all three pictures were identical! He had demonstrated the effect of bias on how we see things. Oh how easily we ALL were biased, too! He then taught us how to deliberately put the brain through this "Paradigm Shift" so as to be able to see either - at will! Many managed to do that - a few could not. He then declared "This is the exact reason why we have republican and democrats". He suggested that in the real world, it would serve us well, to remember this lesson in virtually any endeavor.

Instead of flaming us whom you disagree with, it might be good to find out for "Real" just why they think one way and you think another. One thing that is never helpful though, is to assume that those who differ only differ because they listened to Rush or whomever. It just ain't so! They have no such power. Those with different opinions than your own are IN FACT, hearing and seeing for themselves; and most importantly, are thinking for themselves.

And if we can agree on that...
