All of us agree rail service will be restored sooner or later to the North Bay counties. It is the Bay Area.....as far north as Santa Rosa whether you like it or not. I think Mendocino County would argue that point. Any turn-a-round in the economy will dictate that......probably Ukiah and Willits eventually....hopefully. But lets face it....the rest of the railroad is dead. Revival of the Coos Bay line, the "new" Panama Canal and highway improvements to 101 and 299 will make low grade forest products exports and highway container shipment all that Humboldt County has left, except tourism and government employment (and the ever present underground economy). Retirement enclaves, tourism, ranchettes and inferior forest products exports, gentrification.....that's the future.........I'm sure the reloads in Ukiah and Redding will prosper. I'm not fishing for controversy but anyone with a response, lets have it.
