If you define the "Bay Area" going north as the counties in the GGBH&TD Mendocino & Humboldt are not included, but Del Norte, Sonoma, and Marin (and Napa?) are.

Sniping aside, I would be interested in real information about the inspection, too. Of course, it may (probably will) take FRA at least weeks and possibly months to write reports and officially say something, and nobody can provide reliable comments until then. Who knows - there might even be nondisclosure involved? If anybody's in the vicinity of the tracks, they could just advise us when they see a real train (not just mow/construction equipment) move.

I suspect that NWP has far more potential for traffic than the SC branch (past Watsonville anyway) sans cement plant. Whether what either has and can develop is enough to keep either alive is a question that can only be answered with time.
