A decade of waiting and wondering, and it's come to this. Not surprised. Year after year, there have been promises and declarations being made at public gatherings in Craigmont and elsewhere on the prairie that "we're gonna have service restored this coming harvest." In fact, last summer, they made motions toward state approval for resumption of service in time to take advantage of the current four-mounth downtime on the Snake and Columbia barges, all in hopes of proving to the wheat, barley, and canola shippers that the rusty rail was coming back.
