An aquaintance of mine had the idea of a large "miniature railroad museum" that would be set on ALR (Agricultural Land Reserve). His fanatical idea was that he would purchase the land (more than 15 acres at the time) for "farming", construct a "storage shed", and little by little convert the building to house a large model railroad. It might have been possible to make the transition to a museum by working through city permits, but it would be slow and the red tape would have been a nightmare. Sounds a little like Train Mountain.
I once went on a tour of Train Mountain in 2001, and the place is impressive. I hope that it can be saved, even though I will probably not make it a destination in my travels ever again. When I was given the tour by a member, He referred to Quentin as being "richer than God". I had no idea what Quentin did for a living, just knew he had a passion for railroad memorabilia and live steam and had the means to bring it all together with other fans of the same interests.
