On August 29, 1999 I managed to ride an AAPRCO special that ran through Wind River Canyon. That and Sheep Canyon stand out as the most scenic areas of that line. BN and BNSF have sunk a lot of money into that line (lots of concrete ties) but there's not a lot of traffic. I rode a little bit of the CRIP Choctaw Route from Clinton to Elk City on an excursion. Too bad ATSF couldn't have picked up that line after the Rock's demise as an entrance into Memphis. I heard that MoPac worked hard to make sure that wouldn't happen.
