Grand Canyon Steam is back

For those who thought steam trains to the Grand Canyon were a thing of the past, take note of the Grand Canyon's Steam Train website!

In summary - there will be 4 weekends utilizing former CB&Q #4960 as power on short 8 mile round trip runs and two trips all the way to the Canyon.

The four short trips are actually 4 miles each way, 8 miles round trip. The 2 other trips to
the Canyon should be well patronized and we should be greatful that the program was not terminated. Your patronage will justify the future of the steam program.

Unfortunately, for those with a desire to chase and photograph the line, those trips will be near impossible to photograph due to poor access and high track speeds.

FORTUNATELY - for those who wish to photograph the line AND support the steam program (!), Lerro Productions will be sponsoring a 2 day and one night PHOTOCHARTER on May 14th and 15th utilizing #4960 SOLO with both freight and passenger train with sunrise and sunset photographing opportunities.

The steam staff is eagerly looking forward to running this and all proceeds of this not for profit venture benefit the steam program.

This was announced to regular Lerro patrons fisrt but there are still a few tickets available (and necessary) to make this a go.

Keep in mind that this may (?) be the last year 4960 will run due to its 1472/15 year expiring this year.

We welcome those across the US and especially our West Coast "locals" to join us as we venture West for this unique photo charter.
