However, in a different market, appearance does make a difference, especially if you have seen what JR and other railroad companies do in Japan, where there are enough consumer demand to warrant money spent in marketing. Foamers and non-foamers go wild over paint schemes, revival of "retro" consists, etc. over there.

Unlike there, our passenger rail service isn't good enough to force airlines to cancel routes. :) When that time comes, let's discuss this topic again.
