Or maybe someone makes the tough decisions, regardless of political expediency.

For me, that would mean prioritizing -- safety (law enforcement, fire protection, etc) and education are at the top. Legislator & elected official salaries, at the bottom. Commissions and consultants, near the bottom.

Of course, you (and every other voter) will have a different priority list, and we are back where we were before!

Ah, politics! Can't live with it, can't live without it! And besides, except for the fact that politics affects rail policy and operations, we have gotten a bit far afield!
