Yes, Wes if say every third MAX train went through ridership would be much higher but still would not justify the cost of electrification of the extension or a whole bunch new dual-mode trains. The outer western Portland suburbs are jut too low density.

BTW, Portland traffic is not bad and I know the route you mentioned. I thought the Sunset was the worst? The problem of the 217 is that it was not built for the current level of traffic. My perspective is from driving in places like Chicago and Southern California.
