I agree with all the negative comments about our Oregon highway 217 running between I-5 on the south and Beaverton (highway 26) on the north. One of the many things I think we have gotten better at is long term land use planning. When highway 217 was originally designed, I don't believe we had these long term visions/plans. And as I remember by brother saying, Washington Square (a VERY large shopping center on 217) was not envisioned when it was designed.
It will be interesting to this west Portland resident to see what happens when we put tolls on the I-5 and I-205 Columbia River bridges. This will certainly affect commute patterns.

One should not discount the number of WES riders who go south from Beaverton to the Wilsonville work centers.
While WES isn't perfect, it is a done deal. I would like us to expend our energy on thinking where best to put the Portland-Eugene "higher" speed corridor........Oregon Electric or UP. Or should the "higher" speed corridor be just between Portland and Seattle.....

I don't think all planners should be bashed......some of the responsibility resides with us citizens who resist long term land use planning...........Arlen
