J Mann and Al bring up good points. I'd much rather be out there on a converted flatcar taking in the countryside and the railroad atmosphere. Though well patronized the novelty does wear off. That was proven at the north end too. You can bet much of that market is still there. With the Mendocino County Museum, Roots, Cal Western, B&B's in Fort Bragg, wineries, you've got a great hook just outside of the present operating range. I just hate to see those 8 Harriman era coaches stranded outside in that marine environment on Humboldt Bay waiting for somebody to throw money at them. With the "Redwood" on the rear, slap a baggage car on that lashup, put a black widow SD-9 on the point and you've got the perfect NWP passenger train from the early years through 1955. Pardon my nostalgia.
