Fascinating information. I should have looked at the building when I was in Portola for RR Days a few weeks ago. I recall reading about Espee's similar facilities but will have to refresh my little pea brain before I write more.

This should serve as a cautionary tale to all the museums that have histoically significant old buildings. Perhaps restoration grants from NRHS and Trains magazine, et al, could be scored to favor preservation of these unique structures.
