The Oregon Pacific is pleased to announce that we have purchased, from a private party, the former EP&SW / SP Santa Rosa business car built in 1917 for operation on our lines in the Portland area.

This car was advertised on Ozark Mountain Railcar's site in June and Kelly and myself took a trip to Niles to further inspect the car and fell in love with it...how could you NOT love a piece of former Espee equipment!

Once we were officially "hooked" on it, we sent Chris McLarney, a qualified Amtrak inspector, down to crawl around under it in order to convince us why NOT to add it to our collection. Chris is the owner of restored UP caboose 25198 (which is stored on the OPR) and his inspection report left no doubt that the car was both structurally and mechanically sound.

Bottom line is, once some minor air work is completed, it will move to Portland to our Millwaukie terminal facility. Once the SW-8 SP 1127 is restored to Espee paint they will be used as a pair.

We know a little about the history of the car...was sold by Espee to Kyle Railways, stored (used?) on the Yreka Western and used on the SJVR after which it was sold to the previous owner(s?). Stored at Port of Redwood City before moving to Niles.
