Mojave being a crew change for AT crews was described in the SPT&HS magazine article. Given the lengthy time getting steam powered trains over the Tehachapi grade, then to Barstow, could probably be accomplished in a 16 hour day, but apparently not according to said article. But that was before my time, I certainly am not speaking on authority.

Yet the run to/from Bartsow-Mojave wouldn't take nearly as long, so maybe AT crews from Barstow simpy turned at Mojave? Maybe at that time, crews ran Needles-Mojave? The seniority district is still Bakersfield Road to Needles Yard, and is still called the Old Arizona Division.
