The correct number is indeed 12.

The one unit you reference was the T&NO282/SP3421/SP3352. Its steam generator was removed in 1962. Regardless of what you may have read in Strapac's books, it kept its dual controls and feathers on both ends, and stayed assigned to the T&L Lines, until it was rebuilt to the 3352 in 1972, at which time the second control stand was removed, it received a standard paint job, and was reassigned to the Pacific Lines then.
