I have a Kenwood TH-72A and love it. Dual band. 1800mAh battery standard, easy to use. Can be set to monitor weather channels, and send an alert just like a standard weather radio. APRS with GPS built in. USB programming built in. Means no special programming cable needed. Programming software is free. Can be hooked directly to certain weather station equipment to snd out weather reports automatically via APRS. Can display nearby weather APRS station data.

Expensive though, $4xx for it. I got the AAA battery adapter, and carrying case. I don't like the belt clip that came with it.
