Iran wants nukes and missles - so sooner or later a shooting match is going to start. The only question is if it is a preemptive or retalitory strike by the US or Isreal. That closes the Strait that a bunch of the oil comes through.
Syria is going to implode or explode - don't know where that is going. Much of the price of gas is based on speculation - and there is plenty to speculate about.
Just because it makes alternative energy sources "economically viable" - that doesn't mean most of us will be able to still afford it. And US companies would probably just export it anyway. We are closing our own coal fired plants ebcause of enviromentalists - who don't want us to export the coal either. They promote "clean energy" and "zero emissions" - I guess they forget that the batteries and electricity have to come from somewhere, and we still don't have a viable solution for nuclear waste. Did you see where the proposed LNG dock at Coos Bay has changed from import to export? Do we suddenly have surplus natural gas to sell?
If there is a golden lining to all of this - someone will steal the gold!
