I took this picture just over a year ago and tried to get it accepted at railpictures.net. It was rejected three times, each time I tried to improve it as per the screener's comments.
Well over the year I improved my post processing technique. Starting from scratch with the image directly from the camera I reworked it and resubmitted it a couple days ago.
Rejected! I corrected what they correctly said was wrong.
Accepted! It may be my best San Diego Trolley shot. The screeners at railpicture.net are so good that I learn each time they tell me why they are rejecting a picture.
This is it as accepted today.
This is how it looked right out of the camera last year -- awful!!
Note, I have a top-of-the line Cannon DSLR. The camera was hand held (ISO 2500, 1/21 Sec, F2.8, 16 mm). It is a difficult picture because of the great variation in light, the great depth-of-field, the strong keystoning and lens distortion, and the fact I had to hold the camera so crooked to get the building in.
Hope you like the final results too.
Some may argue that I played with the picture so much that I am misrepresenting reality. Not so! All I did was make what the camera captured with its limited technology into what my far better human eyes saw. Well, I see in 3D!
