You just proved my point OldPoleBurner. Being a railfan has nothing to do with art or photography because they are separate interests.
All this talk about acceptance or rejection at railpictures.net does nothing to advance railfanning. I feel that it accomplishes just the opposite because the message to new railfans is that you must take photos and you must post them to the internet in order to be accepted. I have no problem with pictures that tell a story, it is the photography obsession held by the elder statesmen who are ruining it for newer folks.
Railfanning should not be a competition. Many folks are not gifted in artistic or photographic ways. Don't make them feel inferior by placing so much importance on the approval or rejection of photos on a stupid website.
