If one has to spend the additional $$$ just to filter out those unwanted signals, why then do my Yaesu radios do such a terrific job? Sure they have filters which is why a great numbers of railfans buy them for their outstanding performance! I want a high antenna gain, but I'm not using it with a scanner either. What I have & use makes all the difference from where I'm at. After discovering the difference between a scanner and a amateur radio as far as performance is concerned coupled with moving ahead in getting a license, scanners for me is a thing of the past because of what they do not reject and what they do not receive amongst other factors.
