The historic buildings will be protected from demolition, as they are on the national register. What's CLEARLY at risk is their continued use for historic preservation of railroad history as elements of CSRM. Both long buildings have been allowed that use by UP ever since they removed the traction motor repair function from the Boiler Shop many years ago. The museum's continued use of the buildings has been in every development master plan publicized since UP announced their intent to market the property. The current attitude of Thomas Enterprises is in conflict with the publicized plans, and shows the intent to pursue the development in bad faith. Parks and Recreation has some leverage, but it remains to be seen how effective it is. The faces and voices of the public are definitely going to be needed to help the Museum.
