PE Numbers 600 through 759 were "Hollywood" cars. 735-749 were upgraded to become "Valley Sevens" in '38 for faster service over Cahuenga Pass to the San Fernando Valley. None survive. Abenseth and friends used 717 to replicate this lost class of cars.
717 is currently close to its original appearance as built in the early 1920s. The Hollywoods were "streamlined" in '39 or '40 with the addition of skirting, new lighting, and the winged butterfly paint scheme. This styling was probably done to match the PCCs that had been ordered that same year.
Most of this is from memory, so please forgime my mistakes. I am admittedly not sure when the "Hollywood" nickname was applied, but I think this class was not renumbered in the 5050 series until '49 or so.
