Aw, Coos Bay ain't so bad! I too used to live there- back when it was a much more active port. Weather in the Fall can be spectacular- best on the coast! Used to be a great place to photo trains and ships...
Altho it's down to a trickle, they still export chips from 2 docks and until recently logs were going hot and heavy. In the 70's it was said that the Coos Branch generated enough revenue to cover the costs of practically the entire Oregon Division.
