As one who regularly walks a trail adjacent to a CSX line for railfanning, excercise and commuting home from work, I find this comment truly offensive. I'm professionally employed, donate significant sums to United Way and volunteer to plan conferences and tours in my city and yet you refer to me as a "waste of space." When walking the trail, I see all kinds of people - yes a few transients, but others just out to enjoy a nice day while getting some excercise.
I'd also like to point out that trail users who walk and bike contribute to maintenance of air quality and minimize energy consumption.
