Or how about when I look at the train lineups, and see that I will be going on duty at 14:00, so I lay down for a nap after church. But the phone never rings, and I wind up sleeping until after 16:30. Wide awake until 03:00, tired then and I go to bed. Woke up by caller at 04:10 with a short call for a dogcatch that wasn't on the line-up and on duty at 05:30. This will be my fourth start. Stuck in Monday morning traffic with a van driver who also didn't get any real sleep trying to get to the train, whose crew won't answer our radio calls for their exact location because they are dead asleep. Now all day trying to get dead freight over the road with one more work event and multiple commuter meets.
Eleven hours of this, then off duty just to do it all over again. I think my RSIA start count will give me two days off for needed rest, but the Crew Mangaers thwart this by setting back the next train I am supposed to get until 00:01 the next calendar day, effectively re-starting my 'start clock' so I go another five more days of this life doing it again. How many people am I putting at risk driving the freeways liek this after work?
