Reporters Have Been Dumbed Down Like Everyone Else

I noticed that too when I saw it in the paper.
For most twenty-something reporters, trains are trains, and why bother to concern oneself with "trival" details such as whether or not they're light rail, high-speed, diesel-powered or narrow gauge?
John Q. Public couldn't care less, so why should reporters?
This is probably the same guy who thinks (and reports) that the conductor was the one at the controls of the train when it ran over somebody. "Engineers" are people who sit at easles and design electrical systems.
