The Midwest isn't bullet train nuts yet but there's plans to use the IAIS ROw to get to Des Moines
and Omaha with at least 79 mph rail, the BNSF line across Missouri to get to KC with 125 mph rail
and while that all might attract riders it'll be just like the HSR. No matter how many people ride, the downstream will still be that it will have to be subsdized to operate, plus cover the bond issues. The taxpayers can only shoulder so much of all this, it's the old Ten Years After
song line, "Tax the rich, feed the poor, until there are no rich no more".
